Hey, I’m Matt Franz, an Engineering Manager in Baltimore County, Maryland. I attended college in Texas and stayed there while serving in multiple Military Intelligence units in the Army Reserve. Although I’ve worked in a variety of industries over the years, lately I’ve been in the intersection of CyberSecurity and software delivery and operability in AWS, while leading small to mid-sized teams across North America–and sometimes Europe and Asia.

Before COVID, I loved to travel internationally, especially to Munich and Romania, but New Delhi (and my Indian colleagues) will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope to return there some day. As I teenager, I lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for two years, and was fortunate to get to visit various cities in Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

I’ve got three kids (2 of which were adopted from Russia and China) and an amazing wife that I met in a creative writing class at Texas A&M. She kept up her fiction writing and is racking up the publications, something I gave up on when I got into tech.
